Vision and Mission Statement

Birchwood’s Vision (where we’re going):

To be a community of God’s people through whom God is making seekers into believers and believers into disciples.

(Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:42-47, John 13:34)

As a church, we value seekers – people that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We value intentional growth in the Christian life. We value developing into spiritual maturity.

Birchwood’s Mission (who we are):

We are a gathering of those who are called out by God in and through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to witness to the love, acceptance, and forgiveness of God through Christ as revealed in Holy Scripture. Indwelt by His Holy Spirit, we are called by God to live out our life together as a worshipping congregation, an equipping center, a healing community and a witnessing people.

(Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-37, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Luke 4:16-21)

We believe that becoming a Christ-centered community requires an intentional commitment to four basic activities of the church, and that all we do should help us become:

  • A worshipping congregation that individually and corporately celebrates God’s saving work in Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth.
  • An equipping center that teaches God’s Word and models Christlikeness such that people grow to spiritual maturity and evangelistic zeal.
  • A healing community that creates a safe place in an unsafe world where we embody Christ’s love to one another spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
  • A witnessing people that demonstrate Christ’s love in word and deed to a needy world such that people might respond to God with repentance, obedience, and transformed lives.
